My travel wish-list for the year 2020

The first couple of days of the year it’s nice to spend some hours dreaming of new adventures and destinations for the upcoming year. Here is my travel wish list, some destinations are new to me, and some of them are old favourites I hope to revisit.

no. 1 Peru

I am going on this trip in April 2020. I am planning our itinerary as we speak. Time is limited, and the more I learn about Peru, the more places I want to see. What is settled is: Lima, Cusco and Macchu Picchu, Arequipa, Paracas and Nazca. I am really looking forward to telling you all about this adventure

no. 2 Iceland

In June/July 2020 I am planning to go on a trek across Iceland. Iceland is a new destination to me, and I am really excited about this trip. It will be physically challenging, but it will give me the chance to really enjoy the nature and landscape of this unique place

no. 3 Tuscany

I am hoping to go to Tuscany end of July. Primarily to go to the Andrea Boccelli Concert, but while I’m there I want to revisit the wonderful cities of Siena, San Gimignano and maybe Florence.

no. 4 Hurtigruten

This is a cruise line that operates from Bergen to Kirkenes in Norway. But it is not only a cruise line, but it is also a Norwegian public coastal route transporting local passengers between the ports of call, and cargo between ports north of Tromsø. A cruise with Hurtigruten will let you see the coast and fjords of Western Norway, Lofoten and Northern Norway. In summer you will enjoy the midnight sun, and in winter you might enjoy the Northern Lights.

no. 5 Mauritius

I’ve already been to Mauritius twice, but that does not stop me from constantly longing back there. I just want to take a couple of books and enjoy the food, the sea, the scenery and the wonderful hospitality of the people of Mauritius. It will be hard to come by something closer to paradise.

no. 6 London

London in December spells Christmas for me! I want to stay in the Connaught Hotel in Mayfair, and wander round Mayfair enjoying the window displays at Fortnum and Mason, having lunch at the Wolseley and enjoy the Christmas decorations all around town. And of course enjoy a little Christmas shopping on my own.

no. 7 Vienna

A visit is planned for March 2020. And its 25 years since my last visit, so this trip I’m really looking forward to! Since reading the wonderful book ”The hare with amber eyes” by Edmund de Waal, I’ve really wanted to go back.

no. 8 Canada

I want to visit Quebec for the French/Canadian culture and its beautiful cities like Montreal and Quebec. I also dream of visiting Newfondland and spending a couple of nights on the Fogo Island Inn hotel. Not to mention, I’ve always dreamt of taking a roadtrip into the Canadian wilderness for some stunning natural scenery. Although no trip is planned, it is definitely high on my list.

no. 9 Bordeaux and its countryside

I have been to Bordeaux a couple of times, and it is one of my favourite French cities. But I have never had the time to explore the countryside, the vineries, or Arcachon and the Dune du Pilat. So, if all goes according to plan I will be here in October 2020.

no. 10 Cuba

Cuba has changed the last years, and I want to visit before it has changed too much. I can see myself cruising on the Malecón in one of the old American cars, going to the beach in Cayo Coco or Varadero and enjoying Cuban cuisine in one of the charming paladares.
